P.P.I, Labour Training and Public Works Initiatives
P.P.I (Private-Public Partnership Initiative), Community based labour training schemes, and E.P.W.P (Extended Public Works Program)
Brickcast provides skilled personnel to train local community labour-based programmes. Brickcast has been involved in these programmes since 1994, most notably in Ntuzuma Block 3 and 4 and Kwa-Mashu Paved Roads.
Some 110,000 m² was paved over 2 years, involving skills training for some 300 local unskilled people. To date, some are still employed within the Brickcast Group, while numerous contractors and subcontractors were mentored, established and still operate today.
These skills programmes were further employed in the late President Nelson Mandela’s “pet project” in Tsolo in the Eastern Cape, the Lower Umfolozi Hospital in Empangeni, and more recently in 2017 in Kwa-Msane, Hluhluwe in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
